Manifestation glossary
Every term people use around manifestation and money, defined in plain words, with the honest note on what each one can and cannot do.
Each definition links to the full guide on that topic.
Manifestation
The practice of naming what you want, working on the beliefs that argue with it, and acting on it daily. The thinking does not deliver the result. It changes what you notice, what you believe you can ask for, and what you do.
Law of attraction
The claim that like attracts like, so thoughts pull matching events toward you. There is no mechanism and no evidence for it as a law. The useful parts underneath are attention, belief and daily action.
Abundance mindset
The working belief that more is possible and that someone else doing well does not cost you anything. It shows up in behaviour, like naming your price or looking at your balance, not in a mood.
Scarcity mindset
The assumption that the pie is fixed, so your job is to protect your slice. Usually learned somewhere it was true. It shows up as underpricing, hoarding information and avoiding the numbers.
Money block
A belief about money you picked up early and never checked, which now makes you flinch, stall or settle. It does not feel like a belief. It feels like a fact.
Limiting belief
Any rule you hold that quietly narrows what you will attempt. In money terms, the sentence that answers back when you say your goal out loud.
Affirmation
A short sentence repeated to shift a belief. It works when your mind can accept it today. A sentence far from what you believe gives your doubt more practice rather than less.
Self affirmation
The term as used in psychology: reminding yourself of a value you genuinely hold. Research links it to lower stress and less defensiveness. That is a different thing from repeating a sentence about money.
369 method
Writing one goal three times in the morning, six in the afternoon and nine at night, usually for 33 or 45 days. The numbers are not proven. The spacing across the day is the part that helps.
Scripting
Writing about the life you want in the present tense and in detail, usually a normal day rather than a highlight. Best used to find out what you actually want and where you flinch.
Manifestation journal
A daily record of the belief you are working, what you did about it, and what happened. Evidence pages change beliefs. Pages of wishes do not.
Visualisation
Picturing something in detail before it happens. Research suggests rehearsing the process of doing a thing improves performance, while picturing only the prize does not.
Mental contrasting
Picturing the outcome you want, then deliberately picturing the obstacle in the way, then planning for it. Gabriele Oettingen's research found this works better than positive imagining alone.
WOOP
Wish, Outcome, Obstacle, Plan. The practical form of mental contrasting, taught as a four step exercise.
Implementation intention
A plan in the form when X happens, I will do Y. Peter Gollwitzer's research links this format to better follow through than general good intentions.
Guided hypnosis
Deep relaxation plus narrow focus plus suggestion, led by a voice. You stay awake, hear every word and can stop whenever you want. Evidence is strongest for pain and for irritable bowel syndrome.
Subconscious reprogramming
A popular name for working on automatic beliefs and reactions until a new response becomes the default one. The mechanism is repetition in a calm state, not rewriting a hard drive.
Habit automaticity
The point where a behaviour happens without deciding. Research led by Phillippa Lally found a median of about 66 days for a daily behaviour, with a wide range between people.
Money story
The running account you carry about money and yourself, usually inherited. It is the collection of beliefs a practice like this works on, one sentence at a time.
Vision board
A board of images of what you want. Useful as a daily reminder of a decided goal. On its own it is outcome imagining, which research suggests can reduce effort unless you add the obstacle and the plan.
Or skip the reading and start practising
The Abundance is our money guide. A short quiz finds the belief in your way, then builds a protocol of 30 or 90 days with one session a day of about fifteen minutes.
It does not lean on one method. Guided hypnosis audio, small daily habits, written reframes and a short journal, matched to your answers. You can read each session or listen to it, and you stay awake and in control the whole time.
Take the quiz The quiz costs nothing to take. You pick your plan at the end.
